Luke 4:38-42
Jesus Heals Many
38Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. 39So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
40When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. 41Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ.[h]
42At daybreak Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them.
Solitude
It is easy to note in the above passage that Jesus healed Simon's mother-in-law, and many that had various kinds of sickness. What is easier to miss is that in verse 42, "Jesus went out to a solitary place."
Since it is lunch time, find a solitary place. Perhaps it is in a park. Maybe it is in an office with the door locked. Wherever it is, remember that Jesus, the Son of God, sought a solitary place to talk with His Father. When you get there, pray, read your Bible, and pray some more. Ask God questions. Then, be still and listen.
Pray for very specific needs. For example, you might pray that Adam would be comfortable; that his fever would leave him; that God would provide him with strength to ward off infections; that he would be able to sense the presence of family loving him.
