Preparing for Tomorrow's Fast - Eating

What will you eat today?

(Note: I did absolutely no research on this matter, so it is strictly an opinion based on my personal experience.)

If you have not fasted before, you may wonder if it makes any difference what you eat, today. Based on previous fasts, I believe that it does. Of course, results may vary from one individual to another, but I would suggest the following:

Eat light today — Do not eat a lot in anticipation of fasting on Thursday. Breakfast may already be over, but there is lunch and dinner. No matter how much you eat, today, you will be hungry tomorrow. Personally, I do better fasting when I eat light the day before.

Minimize carbs — avoid the sugary stuff and minimize intake of other high-carb foods. I have found that this helps avoid the "carb crash."

Eat high protein foods — Give your body some fuel, without the carbs.

Drink lots of water — Keep yourself well hydrated, today, and throughout the fast. Drinking lots of water prior to, and during the fast is important for your health. It can also help provide some relief for that empty stomach.
