Isaiah 51:6
Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment
and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
my righteousness will never fail.

Our time on earth is limited. The years speed by. I feel like I am riding down a long hill, going faster as gravity does its thing. As the verse from Isaiah states, we all die like flies (which have a lifespan of about two to four weeks).
Yes, life can whiz by, quickly. In fact, it is so short; I sometimes wonder why I cherish it so. After all, Isaiah points out that “my salvation will last forever.” What should I focus on? Forever or a few years on earth?
I think about, and pray for Adam, daily — more so on Wednesdays. I also think about Amy, Mackenzie, Jack, Cookie, and Adam’s brothers. I try to put myself in their shoes. It is difficult to imagine — perhaps impossible.
What I attempt (not always successful) is to focus on eternal salvation. That way, life’s troubles are not as overwhelming; not as saddening; not as frightening.
Adam has made some positive strides, this week. Praise God for that! Praise Him and thank Him. As we continue to pray for Adam’s healing, let’s also pray for peace for Adam’s family. And, let’s pray for ourselves — pray that the Holy Spirit would help keep us focused on righteousness and eternal salvation. Doing so will make us more diligent in our prayers and petitions.
I keep reminding myself to not worry about Adam. Worrying gains nothing. Rather, I should be pursuing righteousness. It will never fail. Forever God is faithful. His love endures forever!
